1°) What is the LOTOFOOT lottery
METEOFOOT is a general purpose soccer punting site. However, at the very beginning, it was dedicated to a popular French lottery type game called LOTOFOOT. You will find many references to LOTOFOOT in the site, so it seemed necessary for non-French visitors to briefly explain what this lottery consists in.
LOTOFOOT is a game based on soccer major leagues (England, France, Spain, Italy...). "La Française des Jeux" (FdJ for short), which is the official and unique "bookmaker" in France, derives 2 list of 7 and 15 (sometimes14) games respectively, and the players have to bet as usually on one of the three outcomes of these games (1, X,2), or (1,N,2) with French usual notations.
Here is how a 14 games grid looks like.
The 7 games grids look similarly (in fact, they usually consist in the first 7 games of the 14 games grids). These grids are generally published about 5 days before the first game starts.
Punters have to bet on each of the 7 or 14 games (or15, depends on FdJ choices). Minimum bet on a grid (either 7 or 14 or 15) is 1€.
Multiple bets are allowed. In that case, the minimum bet is doubled or trebled for each multiple bet. For example if you bet (1,X) on n°8 + (1,2) on n° 7 + (1,X,2) on n°14, the minimum bet will be 2x2x3=12€ (you can bet 24€, 36€... or either other choice, but your bet has always to be a multiple of the minimum bet).
You win if you've got 14, 13, 12, 11 good results (respectively 15,14,13,12 for a 15 games grid, and 7,6 for a 7 games grid). There are no odds as for usual bookmakers, but fixed earnings for each winning rank.
As the earnings are a distribution of all bets among all winners, these earnings unpredictably vary from one round to another, according to different parameters : how many bets have been done, how many winners at each rank (i.e. the easier the prediction, the lower the earnings)...
Again, as an example, here are some earnings of former grids
And here are some grids published here, one of which we're especially proud of, as it is our jackpot of march 2005 !

2°) Where do METEOFOOT predictions come from
The original idea of the site was a strong desire of the webmaster to improve his poor performances with LOTOFOOT lottery.
It started first with the derivation of some software lines with which we computed the relative skills between two teams (whatever they are), according to the outcomes of former games they played with other teams in the same championship.
With this code and the information we got from it, we first started to make ranking predictions for next championship games (and of course the end of the championship). Very quickly we used it to make game predictions, and use them for LOTOFOOT lottery.
Some discussions with other punting connoisseurs helped us to improve both the software and the site, and to propose always more applications of these predictions.
Bookmakers are our next target, but there is already a "picks section" where you can get useful information for your next bets.
All comments are VERY welcome at webmaster@meteofoot.com.

The main information is the prediction of all matches outcomes probabilities ( French Ligue1 & Ligue 2, English Premiership, others to come). The visitor will thus find here :
These probabilities for the next round (for LOTOFOOT 7 games , but also for all games of LIGUE1, LIGUE2 & English Premier League)
home wins probabilities evolution during the championship (for each match of the next round to come). These are available for all teams in LIGUE 1 & LIGUE 2 , plus England. They can be used to refine your own picks taking into account teams relative skills evolution

This site intends to bring information to help punters make their predictions. Due to its origins, the site is clearly "LOTOFOOT oriented", but you can find tips that may prove useful if you are a bookmakers' user.
Here are some indications on how you can use this information :
first, you've got plenty of data on teams past performances and home/draw/win probabilities of next games to come on the L1, L2, England championships pages. Use them as often as you need (or want) before going to bookmakers
should you wish to play "LOTOFOOT", you can play one of the three proposed grids and let me a message from time to time (in case of success only!)
if you hesitate between the three grids, read the anticipated and theoretical success probabilities , or compare the past results of the three strategies to look out which one performs best
or you can make your bets from scratch after a look at meteofoot picks on next FdJ proposed grid
and to make sure we don't cheat, have a look on the rating index which tracks the picks relevance according to effective results (for the signification of this index, go to FAQ/indice de performance )
This list is not comprehensive; we look forward to your comments
